Hello & Welcome.....
NW Indiana is filled with Hoosiers of all nationalities, colors, races, ages, origins, and sexual orientations. With as many different individuals that reside in the far west corner of our state, it was just time to pull all of these wonderful people together, that share a special unity. A unity, that they feel so strong and passionate about. Celebrating Gay pride, is such a joy, especially when you can freely and openly, express who you are and what you love about yourself and your peers.
HOW WE GOT OUR START
NW Indiana Rainbow Days, got it's start in April 2006 when a lesbian woman, decided it was time to have GLBT Pride celebrations and get together's, in her own home town. She immediately started a group, on yahoo, with fast results. On May 1st 2006, she applied for the park permit, and chose the location, to have the 1st annual, Gay Family Pride Picnic at the Beach. That is when she met Dick Royal. He helped put her in contact with various individuals, that would prove so successful. From that point onward, NW Indiana Rainbow Days, has pushed forward, with the help of MCC Illiana Community Church, PFlag and other organizations), making plans to bring together all, in the GLBT commmunity.
OUR MISSION
NW Indiana Rainbow Days, will strive to bring together, families and friends, in the Gay, lesbian, Bisexual, Trans-gender, and "questioning" community, to celebrate our pride, celebrate life, living and the joys of meeting others.
OUR GOAL
NW Indiana Rainbow Days goal is to one day, open up a community center, where all in the GLBT community, along with friends, family and loved ones, can have a safe place to call home. This community center will have game nights, poetry slams, dinner & movie nights, Youth discussions, old school rap sessions, counseling groups/individual, and so much more.
