Gary Pride ~ July 14, 2012
Gary, Indiana ~ 12noon
Indiana is filled with Hoosiers of all nationalities, colors, races, ages, origins, and sexual orientations.
NW Indiana Rainbow Days .........
has been apart of Gary and all of NW Indiana since April 2006. We have hosted Family Pride Picnics at Marquette Beach and Buffington Park.
Pride Skate night at Skate World (now World of Skate), The Lavender Prom, and VersedOut. And, since 2008, we have held 4 annual Gay Pride
Parades.
Gary, and the surrounding cities and towns have a large glbtq (gay, lesbian, bi-sexual, trans-gender, questioning) community of people,
young and not so young, from all economic, educational and religious classes. So many in our community travel to Illinois and elsewhere to attend
gay pride celebrations because of the lack of pride events hosted in our own community. And, with as many different individuals that reside in
the far west corner of our state, it was just time to pull all of these wonderful people together, that share a special unity. A unity, that they feel
so strong and passionate about. Celebrating Gay pride, is such a joy, especially when you can freely and openly, express who you are and what
you love about yourself and your peers. The Gay Pride Parade brings together people in a way that resonates peace, tolerance and acceptance. In
recent years, several organizations and groups have formed in the area; changing the gay community for the better.
OUR MISSION
NW Indiana Rainbow Days strives to bring together, families, friends, supporters and allies in the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Trans-gender,
and "questioning" community, to celebrate pride, celebrate life, living and the joys of meeting others.
.............Come back and see us real soon!
In memory of Dick Royal, for without his help and guidance, NW Indiana Rainbow Days,
would not have been as successful. We love you D.R.!
